April Read – Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner…

April 17, 2017

It has been a while since I have logged on and wrote some words for myself.  That self indulgence and satisfaction I get from spilling words onto this digital page hasn’t seemed a top priority for the past few weeks  months.   It is the things that you ignore, that give your heart pleasure, that help to centre you and allow you to be the person you want to be that get dropped first.   With so much focus this year on establishing my business there hasn’t been much writing joy.  I’m hoping that this will change now that the bulk of the work for that has been done and the Easter weekend has allowed me to reset and refresh.  Bit by bit I have been reading Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner after hearing about it from the Young House Love podcast.  Erin is the brains behind Design For Mankind, a curated blog with all sorts of life tips beautifully composed in her corner of the web.

I didn’t know Erin as a personality, or know of her story and had only ever fleetingly been on her blog when a facebook prompt or link from another blogger appeared.  YHL spoke lovely words of her book and I was so convinced to purchase that there was a slight disappointment, or serendipitous prediction, when I realised I would have to preorder and wait.a.month!  Forgotten and arriving unexpectedly the book was a hardback and had that new paper smell.  Erin writes about her life, the behind the scenes that her readers may not have known about, brain tumours, bankruptcy and rushed life.  Her life lessons hit on the current world tone of minimalism, conscious purchasing and family over things.  Peppered with list, tips and some yummy recipes Erin brings her writing tone from her blog without just repurposing the same material.  Reading this was a pleasure and it was easy to dip in and out without losing the stories thread.

Happy Reading.  PF xo
